canyOn: A Voxel-Optimized Kork Series
2026
Computational Design and Topological Optimization Self-Initiated | Prototype This series explores the intersection of structural logic and geological form. Using the tOpos plugin for Grasshopper, digital load paths are translated into a physical landscape, redefining algorithmic efficiency through sustainable materiality. The design utilizes voxel-based topology optimization to eliminate redundant mass, leaving a skeletal structure realized through the precision stacking of 10mm cork sheets. These 1cm elevation increments create a tactile, canyon-like topography, allowing for complex, double-curved geometries that mimic natural erosion in carbon-neutral expanded cork.
